An area of showers and thunderstorms that produced heavy rainfall moved across the northern half of Virginia between 2:00 and 6:00 PM EDT on the 27th. In Winchester, ponding of water on roads was reported after 1.16 inches of rain fell in 30 minutes. In Shenandoah County, 2.70 inches of rain fell at Strasburg. In the northwest portion of Warren County, 2.33 inches of rain was recorded. In Nelson County, 2.75 inches of rain fell at Tye River.
