A NWS storm survey indicated that the first tornado in Mellette County touched down in a field. There was just minor damage to a corn field. Hail, up to baseball size, was reported with the storm over a three county area as it moved to the south. Some homes had damage to siding and trees had leaves and branches shredded off. Another tornado formed after the storm moved into Tripp County. It was smaller then the first and caused no damage. The storm later moved into Nebraska.
