Heavy Rain in Pennsylvania, November 26, 2000

Heavy rain fell across sections of Southeast Pennsylvania and parts of New Jersey during the first half of the 26th. While rain also fell heavy at times elsewhere across Eastern Pennsylvania, the highest storm totals were in Bucks and Delaware Counties. Some urban and poor drainage flooding occurred, but no serious damage was reported. Storm totals included 1.78 inches in Chadds Ford (Delaware County), 1.70 inches in Southampton (Bucks County), 1.47 inches in Crum Creek (Delaware County) and 1.43 inches in Neshaminy Falls(Bucks County). A low pressure system formed over the Gulf Coast States by the morning of the 24th. While the primary low moved northeast into the Great Lakes, a second low pressure system formed along the triple point (The location where the original low pressure's system occluded, cold and warm fronts converge. This is a common place for secondary development.) of its frontal boundary the morning of the 26th over the Delmarva Peninsula. The second low pressure system moved northeast across New Jersey. It helped enhance the precipitation, especially in New Jersey, where more widespread heavy rain fell.
