Heavy thunderstorm rains caused significant ponding of water on local roadways. Extensive basement flooding was also reported along Charles Street and in Throop. A backyard was flooded on Hughes Street.
Heavy thunderstorm rains caused numerous road closings and extensive flooding in the suburbs of Wilkes-Barre. A bridge replacement construction project was disrupted when four 6-foot diameter pipes were washed 600 yards down Solomon Creek. A construction project in Ashley had similar problems. In Bear Creek, flooding washed out a bridge and Laurel Run Road was closed for 3 hours when a small pond overflowed. Extensive basement flooding was also reported across the area. The right lane of Route 309 was closed for one hour in Kingston due to mudslides. Courtdale Avenue and Main Street in Courtdale were closed due to flooding. A mud slide also cuased flooding along Main Street in Jenkins Township.
