As a low pressure system moved north along the Mid-Atlantic Coast, periods of heavy rain occurred across the region. Rain developed between 1 am and 2 am EDT on July 26th, spread rapidly north and ended around 9 am on July 27th. The heaviest rain occurred from around 8 am to 8 pm on the 26th. Rainfall amounts ranged from around 2 to around 4 inches.Here are selected rainfall amounts for:Passaic County: from 1.99 inches at the Wanaque Reservoir to 3.25 inches at Little Falls.Bergen County: from 2.62 inches at Teterboro Airport to 3.46 inches at Midland Park.Essex: 3.17 inches was measured at Newark Airport.Hudson County: from 3.19 inches at Kearny to 4.07 inches at Harrison.Union County: from 2.65 inches at Canoe Brook to 3.38 inches at Cranford.
