An unseasonably warm air mass and an intense low pressure system and cold front set the stage for an extremely windy day across New Jersey on December 17th. Thunderstorms embedded within bands of heavy precipitation exacerbated the wind and in some instances became severe. This was the case in Monmouth County. Severe thunderstorms knocked down trees and power lines from Allentown Borough and Upper Freehold Township northeast through Colts Neck Township.
