Thunderstorms developed rapidly in a very humid air mass in west central Missouri. As the storms collapsed, they produced three separate damaging wind events in Pettis County. Eastern sections of the county, from Sedalia to the Cooper County line were hit repeatedly with heavy rain. Sedalia Airport recorded 1.7 inches of rain in just under 90 minutes, and Doppler radar estimated rainfall amounts over 3 inches near the Pettis-Cooper County line.
