A narrow band of heavy snow fell from Rochester to Wabasha and was accompanied by lightning and thunder. This resulted in snowfall rates as much as 2 to 3 inches per hour. A volunteer observer near the Rochester airport (Olmsted County) reported 6 inches of snowfall in a little over four hours.
