A mixture of light freezing drizzle and snow invaded parts of south-central Nebraska during the early morning hours of January 3. Most areas received one inch or less of snow. However, the slick road conditions may have played a part in two, separtate fatality automobile accidents. One occurred east (3 miles) of Kearney as the driver of a sport utility vehicle lost control. Two people were killed and two others injured in this accident. Another one car accident occurred near Overton, and resulted in the death of the driver.
