An area of low pressure moving through the Great Lakes and a secondary low developing off the mid-Atlantic coast brought moderate to heavy snow to the mountains and foothills of western Maine. The secondary low moved rapidly northeast through the Gulf of Maine as it deepened during the early morning hours of the 20th. Snowfall amounts ranged from 3 to 7 inches in the foothills to 6 to 12 inches in the mountains.
