The excessive heat of August continued into the first 3 days of September. Temperatures soared well above 100 degrees in many locations. Topeka recorded a high of 109 degrees on the 2nd, the highest temperature of the summer and the highest temperature in 16 years (110 degrees was recorded on August 29, 1984). Fortunately there were no deaths or injuries reported from the heat.
