Excessive HeatA strong ridge of high pressure remained over the region, bringing record heat to Texas for the month of September, and the hottest weather of the summer. Temperatures reached 111 degrees at DFW Airport on September 4, which set the all-time record for the month of September. Daily records were set over north Texas during the first 4 days of September. The cooperative stations had September high temperatures ranging from 108 degrees at Emory to 114 degrees at Possum Kingdom lake.
