Strong winds spread across eastern Kansas on the morning and early afternoon of the 16th. Top wind gusts reported were 52 mph at Emporia, 50 mph at Topeka Forbes Field, 47 mph at Lawrence, and 45 mph at Concordia and Topeka Billard Airport. No damage resulted from the high winds. Combined with temperatures in the 25 to 30 degree range the strong winds produced wind chills in the 10 below zero to 20 below zero range.
