Strong to severe thunderstorms developed ahead of a cold front as it swept across the region during the afternoon. The storms produced several reports of 40 to 50 mph winds and small hail. A few reports of large hail were received. High winds estimated at near 70 mph knocked down a large tree onto a vehicle in Camanche. Numerous trees and limbs were blown down in Southern Camanche from 2nd Avenue to 16th Avenue and south of Washington Boulevard. High winds also toppled a few trees near Hiawatha.
