A line of severe thunderstorms developed in northcentral Illinois during the mid afternoon hours and moved northeast into far northeast Illinois by late afternoon. Widespread downed trees and power lines were reported in the communities of Aurora, Big Rock, Douglas Sims, Geneva, Montgomery and St. Charles. During the peak of the storm nearly 204 thousand electrical customers had disrupted power in Aurora and the surrounding area.
