Flash Flood in Delaware, August 4, 2000
Nearly stationary thunderstorms with torrential rains caused poor drainage and small stream flooding in the northeast portion of Sussex County during the late afternoon and early evening of the 4th. It was the second time this summer that torrential rains coincided with the Friday exodus to the shore.

Nearly stationary thunderstorms with torrential rains caused poor drainage and small stream flooding in the northeast portion of Sussex County during the late afternoon and early evening of the 4th. It was the second time this summer that torrential rains coincided with the Friday exodus to the shore. Doppler Radar storm total estimates reached 4 to 5 inches in Slaughter Beach and east of Delaware State Route 1 in Cedar Creek Hundred. No serious injuries were reported.
