Severe thunderstorms moved through northern Connecticut ahead of a cold front. The first round of thunderstorms occurred in the afternoon, and produced large hail in Hartford, Tolland, and Windham Counties. Golf ball size hail was reported in Enfield, and hail the size of quarters fell in Stafford Springs. Dime size hail was reported in Eastford and Ashford. The second round of thunderstorms moved through during the early evening. In Hartford County, dime size hail fell in Simsbury, and thunderstorm winds downed trees in Granby and Simsbury. Farther east, dime size hail was reported in Columbia and Willimantic, before the storms entered Rhode Island.
