A Pacific trough produced 6 to 12 inches of snow in some mountain areas of west-central Colorado. The exception was Vail Ski Area which received 18 inches. The heavy snow downed many trees and power lines, which knocked out electrical power to thousands of customers. Snowpacked and slick roads also resulted in numerous vehicle accidents which shut down Interstate 70 near Vail Pass for over 10 hours.
