The time period between late March 19th through early March 21st was a windy one in Interior Central California. Reports from the California City Airport and Mojave Airport indicated winds (gradient) from the NNE hit 70 knots during the wee hours of March 20th...and the California City Fire Department reported trees downed, including one onto a mobile home. Fire Program RAWS data indicates wind to 72 knots at Jawbone early in the morning of the 20th. Mesonet information in the Tehachapi Pass area had gusts to 63 knots by 2300 PST late on the 19th. Gusty wind was also reported...but meeting thresholds only for advisory levels...for the Southern Sierra Nevada and Tulare County Foothills and Mountains, as well as the Kern County Mountains and Deserts through 0400 PST on the 21st. Wind at the high elevations (AOB 9000 feet) in the S.Sierra Nevada and Tulare County Mountains reached over 60 MPH.
