A moderate 980 mb low moved northeastward across the extreme western Aleutians into the southwest Bering Sea late Monday and Tuesday. Brisk westerly winds along the 'back side' of the low were observed. Actual recorded gusts at Shemya reached 60 mph. It should be noted that reports from Shemya are sporadically received and did not reflect the maximum 'blow'.
