Sleet fell over much of the area during the overnight hours of January 27 and 28. Very little accumulation was noticed except in Marengo county where a glaze of ice accumulated on some of the side streets. No roads had to be closed and traffic was still able to flow in a normal manner. A couple of the county school systems had closed due to the threat of icing. Most of the snow, heavier sleet and freezing rain fell farther north across central and north Alabama.
