A severe thunderstorm knocked down several trees in Lehighton, at least one fell on a vehicle. The wind also blew an air-conditioning unit into a house and knocked down a chimney of another house. A SKYWARN Spotter estimated wind gusts of between 60 and 65 mph. Just west of Lehighton in Mahoning Township, the severe thunderstorm tore apart a barn. Debris from the barn closed Pennsylvania State Route 902 for an hour. Marble size hail was also reported with the storm. Pennsylvania Power and Light reported 31,000 homes and businesses without power from Lancaster (Lancaster County) to Lehighton (Carbon County).
