The combination of outflow boundaries from earlier thunderstorms along with a cold front over southwestern Kansas moving into the northwest Texas and western Oklahoma panhandles served as a triggering mechanism for severe thunderstorms with large hail and high winds across the western and central Oklahoma panhandle during the evening hours.
