A powerful downburst ...from a thunderstorm whose core was actually in Rowan county...damaged a wide area along High Rock Lake. Many trees were blown down onto piers, homes, and cars. At least two houseboats were swept out of the water..and landed on adjacent residences and vehicles. Around five homes were seriously damaged.
