A sultry unstable air mass allowed for scattered thunderstorms to develop across eastern New York on the evening of July 30. Some of the storms became severe. Thunderstorms deposited walnut size hail at Hague, Warren county. Wind damage from a severe thunderstorm later during the evening knocked trees and power lines down in the Middleville to Herkimer area. The same storm produced dime sized hail at Little Falls in Herkimer county.
