A severe thunderstorm that developed in western Keith County produced tennis ball sized hail which destroyed approximately 10000 acres of wheat. Corn and sugar beets were also damaged; but, those crops were not as sensitive to hail damage because of the early developmental stage of the corn and the underground growth of beets..
