High Wind in Nebraska, February 11, 1999
High wind and snow abruptly brought winter weather back to residents of eastern Nebraska a day after record setting highs in the upper 60s to upper 70s were recorded. A sustained northwest wind of 35 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph was accompanied by snowfall of around 1 to 3 inches.

High wind and snow abruptly brought winter weather back to residents of eastern Nebraska a day after record setting highs in the upper 60s to upper 70s were recorded. A sustained northwest wind of 35 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph was accompanied by snowfall of around 1 to 3 inches. This created a period of near whiteout conditions across the region. Besides the sustained winds of near 40 mph, higher wind gusts included 60 mph near Gretna, 55 mph at Norfolk, 53 mph in Fremont and 50 mph at Offutt.
