Snow fell at the rate greater than 1 inch an hour at times leaving accumulations ranging from 4 to 8 inches across the area with some local 10 inch amounts around Richmond. The snow had changed to a mixture of sleet and freezing rain by the afternoon hours with some ice accumulations occurring.
