Lightning struck and damaged a moving vehicle on Interstate 75 two miles south of County Road 672 (exit 47) in southern Hillsborough County. The lightning bolt struck the driver side mirror and damaged the electrical system of the vehicle which rendered it inoperable. The electrical charge of the lightning bolt travelled through the tires of vehicle which were blown out and partially melted. The occupants of the vehicle were not injured by the lightning strike.
