With a cold high pressure system covering New England, as a strong low pressure system passed east of Long Island, it produced heavy snow.Light snow began around 1 am on February 25th along coastal New London County and became heavier as it slowly spread west and north across the region. The heaviest snow fell across coastal New London County. Snowfall amounts ranged from around 7 inches at Old Saybrook to 8 inches at Groton.
