The Mammoth incident was responsible for burning 500 acres. Temperatures near 100 degrees F as well as rugged terrain hampered control operations. Due to the remote location with no access roads, crews had to be ferried by boat to the lightning caused fire. One injury and zero deaths were reported. Fire suppression costs approached 1 million dollars.
