The pressure gradient between a 993 mb low over eastern Missouri and a 1040 mb high over the northern Rockies brought strong northwest winds to northwest Arkansas on April 15. The strongest winds occurred in the morning, when high winds toppled a sycamore tree onto a TV cable line line in Sleep Hollow. Wind gusts of 40 to 45 miles an hour were common with locally higher gusts.
