The low continued east southeast to a position 90 miles east of Saint George at 9 pm Thursday then to a position 300 miles east southeast of Sand Point as a 978 mb center late Friday.

An extremely intense, 937 mb low moved east to a position between Attu and the Komandorskiye Islands of Russia as the day began Wednesday. The low continued east southeast to a position 90 miles east of Saint George at 9 pm Thursday then to a position 300 miles east southeast of Sand Point as a 978 mb center late Friday. Very strong westerly winds were observed along the entire southwest semicircle of the storm, out to 480 miles, late Wednesday and Thursday. However as the low weakened, strong winds were confined to the southwest quadrant of the low, out about 240 miles, late Friday.Peak gusts reached at least 82 mph at Shemya just after noon Wednesday. Gusts at Adak were also strong (above 58 mph). Winds reached 60 mph at the Dutch Harbor airport Friday morning. At the newly installed spit reporting site in Dutch Harbor, however, williwas racing down Ballyhoo Mountain brought a peak wind of 102 mph to that area at 10 am Friday (note: sustained winds were less than 30 mph).
