High levels of heat and humidity over Milwaukee County, amplified by the "urban heat-island" effect, resulted in 21 people being treated at area hospitals for heat-related injuries/exhaustion. The Mitchell International Airport morning low was 72 and the daytime maximum was 95, while minimum relative humidities were only 40 to 45 percent, yielding heat index values of 100 to 104.
