A weak upper level disturbance helped to form convective showers in Winkler County, TX and Lea County, NM that intensified as they moved eastward into richer moister. Showers and thunderstorms formed into a NW-SE line that stretched from near Seminole to Big Spring. The storms continued strong as they left the KMAF warning area to the east. These storms were embedded in low clouds and were being fed by warm, moist air above the surface as surface conditions were still quite cool during the event.
