Another hot day with enough moisture to produce isolated severe thunderstorms. At maximum heating temperatures were near 101 degrees with dew points in the upper 50s. The KMAF 00 UTC sounding showed 2800 J/kg of CAPE. The Andrews County storms formed in Winkler County and moved to the northeast. During the life cycle the storms were multicell, but with the leading cells (on the east side) being the best organized with good relative inflows.

During the time the intense cells were over Andrews County, the maximum organization of the strongest cell occurred here where this cell briefly approached supercell status. The storm was located near the intersection of highways 115 and 128.
A couple of utility poles were knocked down by strong winds from this storm.
The same cluster of storms moved into Andrews although less intense then when the storms were farther southwest.
