As thunderstorms moved into Lavaca County from the west, they began to produce downbursts. The winds first struck in the Shiner area, where they destroyed five barns and 4 homes. As the storms moved eastward, they produced a combination of large hail and damaging winds in the Hallettsville. A 14x80 mobile home was destroyed by the winds near Hallettsville.
