An F1 tornado touched down about 4 miles northwest of New Columbia and moved southeast for about 2.5 miles, taking down trees, damaging a couple of barns, and flattening some corn. The tornado was embedded in a large area of downburst winds, running roughly parallel to Interstate 80 from 8 miles northwest of New Columbia, eastward into White Deer Furnace. Hundreds, even thousands, of trees were downed just south of I-80 on Sugar Valley Narrows and White Deer Pike into White Deer Furnace. Three barns had portions of roofs removed, and the west side of a metal silo was buckled in by the force of the wind. Several small sheds were blown over and one house received damage from falling trees. Some siding from another house was peeled.
