Damaging Wind in Pennsylvania, May 31, 1998
A squall line of severe thunderstorms produced wind damage across central parts of Montgomery County. This would be the same line of severe thunderstorms that would produce a tornado in Upper and Lower Moreland Townships once it reached this location.

A squall line of severe thunderstorms produced wind damage across central parts of Montgomery County. This would be the same line of severe thunderstorms that would produce a tornado in Upper and Lower Moreland Townships once it reached this location. In Pottstown the damage started with toppled trees and scattered power outages. Downed trees and wires were then reported farther south in Skippack and Lower Providence Townships. The damaged intensified as the line reached into southern Montgomery County. The high winds and intense lightning caused 60,000 PECO Energy customers in Montgomery County to lose power that night. All power were restored by the morning of Thursday June 4th. PECO Energy distributed about 365,000 pounds of dry ice throughout its service area.
