A burst of heavy rain and strong winds associated with a thunderstorm contributed to a three dozen vehicle accident on the U.S. Route 30 By-Pass near Downingtown at 555 p.m. EDT. The chain reaction accidents occurred in both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the by-pass. Twenty-seven people were treated for injuries.
