Several severe thunderstorms moved across southeast Mississippi Friday evening on April 17. The first storm did the most damage across Greene county with high winds blowing down trees throughout the county with the hardest hit areas being in the east part of the county. Several barns , chicken houses and carports were damaged by the high winds. Baseball size hail also accompanied the thunderstorms. The Leakesville area also had large hail in March. The hail stripped leaves from trees and damaged unprotected vehicles. Several homes with windows that faced to the west had them broken out and many roofs suffered damage.
