Flood, Northeast Oregon

When: May 25, 4:00 PM PST to May 30, 2:00 PM PST
Where: Northeast Oregon forecast zone

Nearly a week of steady rain, up to five inches in places, caused flooding problems across Union and Wallowa Counties. High water and debris clogged culverts causing numerous road washouts in the Imnaha area stranding several vehicles. Travel on other roads was restricted to people who lived there. High water threatened as many as eight homes in the town of Imnaha, flooded pastures and uprooted trees along the Imnaha River. Mud slides downed power lines and isolated two homes 26 miles from Imnaha. A state of emergency was declared in Wallowa county on May 27 through May 30. Sandbags, rock, and gravel were used to divert water in the towns of Union and Cove. Several other roads were closed in Union County because of high water. At least one home was flooded and the family was evacuated just outside the town of Union.
