In East Spencer a marginally severe thunderstorm caused at least one tree to fall; it fell on a car and house causing some substantial damage. A stronger, near tornadic, storm developed across northern Mecklenburg County and caused damage in Cabarrus County. A v-shaped damage pattern across about a mile included damage to a fire station, a church, and a number of trees. Underpinning was blown out of mobile homes in the same area.
