A line of severe thunderstorms produced wind damage across the southern part of Sussex County. Hardest hit was Newton with numerous downed trees. Wind damage was also reported in Fredon, Hampton and Sparta Townships. New Jersey State Route 94 was closed in Fredon. About 3,000 homes lost power due to downed wires. All power was restored by noon on the 30th.
