During the evening hours, thunderstorms formed over Nebraska and moved east rapidly into Iowa after midnight. The storms lost a lot of their punch as they moved east, but did produce hail over southwest Iowa. A few reports of hail of one inch up to golf ball in size were received. The storms weakened as they moved farther east into Iowa, but still produced pea to marble size hail and wind gusts of 40 to 50 MPH as they moved across the south half of the state.
