Strong Wind in New Jersey, February 25, 1998
Strong northwest winds around the intense northeaster that brought tidal flooding and heavy precipitation to New Jersey on the 23rd and 24th, buffeted the region during the daylight hours on the 25th. Peak wind gusts reached between 40 and 50 mph in inland locations and as strong as 57 mph along the coast.

Strong northwest winds around the intense northeaster that brought tidal flooding and heavy precipitation to New Jersey on the 23rd and 24th, buffeted the region during the daylight hours on the 25th. Peak wind gusts reached between 40 and 50 mph in inland locations and as strong as 57 mph along the coast. Most of the strongest gusts occurred within one or two hours of noon. The recent heavy precipitation loosened the ground and caused some weak and shallow rooted trees and limbs to be knocked down. A few isolated power outages resulted. Downed trees were reported in Trenton and Burlington City. Peak wind gusts included 57 mph in Seaside Park (Ocean County), 52 mph in Waretown (ocean County), 49 mph in Mount Holly (Burlington County), 47 mph in Millville (Cumberland County) and 45 mph in Stone Harbor (Cape May County). No serious damage or injuries were reported.
