Severe thunderstorms in Cheshire County during the evening caused large hail and damaging winds in several communities. Golfball size hail fell in Walpole, where vehicles were damaged. Golfball size hail also was reported in Surry. Large branches and power lines were reported down in Swanzey. Up to 16,000 electric customers lost power in southern New Hampshire during the late afternoon and evening storms of May 31st.
