A slow moving low pressure system over the Great Basin spread moisture over an unseasonably cold airmass which was in place over South Central Montana from the evening of June 2 through the morning of June 4. The result was a heavy snowfall in the Beartooth Mountains with snow falling as low as 5000 feet.
