A local television station in Kansas City reported an 80 MPH wind gust at 31 st and Main. A large tree was downed near the station and several 4 to 6 inch diameter branches were downed from a tree at 31st and Harrison. Winds gusted to 62 MPH at Downtown Kansas City Airport. Elsewhere in Kansas City, Holmes Road was closed during rush hour due to a large tree blown down across the street at 74th Terrace.

Severe thunderstorm winds blew the roof off of a trailer in Levasy and took the garage door off a house. Minor crop damage was also reported.

Severe thunderstorm winds snapped 3 large trees at their bases and flattened a gazebo in Wellington. Also in Wellington, a porch which was still intact blew on top of the roof of a trailer. Power lines and numerous trees were blown down in Lexington. In Waverly, several trees 12 to 24 inches in diameter were blown down. Numerous power outages were reported in Odessa as a result of the thunderstorms.

Very heavy rain from thunderstorms resulted in several reports of flash flooding in Clay County. In Gladstone, several evacuations of people trapped in cars were required at 60th and Shoul Rd. In Liberty, 3 cars were submerged and one person was trapped but successfully rescued. The intersection of Route 152 and Flintlock was under water and impassable.

Thunderstorms produced 1 to 2 inches of rain in less than an hour. This heavy rain resulted in numerous flooded streets and intersections in Kansas City. I-70 was closed through the downtown loop due to flooding shortly before morning rush hour.
