Rainfall ranging from 2 to 4 inches caused widespread flooding across the area. In south St. Louis City and County, the major problem was flooded basements from overflowing storm drainage systems. Up to 1300 homes or businesses were affected. In Jefferson County, the Meramec and Big rivers flooded, closing some roads and destroying crops planted in the floodplains.
